Got my lights mounted and tested tonight. I had to go with 2 batteries as 1 battery couldn't handle the load of both lights, after about 5 minutes with 1 battery everything started flickering but with 1 battery per light everything seemed to work and I have redundancy. The lights are mounted to 3 inch ram arms so easily adjustable and if you tighten the arms down seem to be real firm. I need to go up in the foot hills on a night ride to test that out. Batteries are mounted in my tank bag so everything is padded and firmly mounted to the bike. The two bike mounted lights along with 2 helmet mounted lights that will point where I look it should be adequate for the dark nights we will face in the race. The fense in the picture is 300-400 ft away from the bike. The older I get the more light I want. I am kind of the opinion that the only time I have enough light is in full day light.

It's almost race time, anyone want to join us. We still have three spots open.

Tested my light setup last night in the Boise foothills. Everything worked and it was a great sunset, but with no moon, very dark.

We are still 10 days out from the race, and we know how weather forecast can change, but weather is looking pretty good for the race at this point. A little rain this Saturday to help keep the dust down and then clear so hopefully it will not be a muddy.

Lol, it is never too early to start addressing solutions to the issues I had last year. My new “radiator” shrouds will definitely take an entire day to fabricate, but my knees will thank me for the rest of the time I own the bike.

I'll just say that I removed the shrouds and just stuck on a piece of 1/2" thick Neoprene foam. It offers extra grip and it's not so soft it crushes to the aluminum frame. You can squeeze it really hard while your riding and it only crushes like 1/4". It feels great. You can see it in pictures:

I used a razor to cut chamfers around the edge. I ordered the "Soft", but I think you could probably go with UltraSoft and still not crush the foam to the frame.

I followed @privateer703 example. I bought my neoprene off of Amazon so not sure how it will hold up. I cleaned the frame with some rubbing alcohol and it seems to be sticking really well, but this weekend will be the test. I did find that scissors made a smoother cut than a razor blade, at least for me. I have some extra and will bring it with me if you want to try it.

I see you also routed the left-hand rear-brake line through the frame. The standard routing would tend to flop around, and potentially rub under your right knee.

This particular area sticks out too far, my goal will be to have it almost flush with the frame with the new guards.
