I’ve had the chance to check out the Arctic Leopard E-XE 880, and I’ve gotta say, it’s a solid electric dirt bike. One of the things that stands out is how smooth and quiet the ride is, which makes it great for trails where noise can be an issue.

I am supposed to be having my EX800 delivered on Friday. I ordered it two months ago. I want it as an Eastern single track bike. I have been riding my Altas for several years now and am extremely happy with them. The two differences in the EX800 are reduced weight (maybe 50+pounds) and larger range (maybe as much as 60-70mi). Time will tell.

They list 137mi as a range, so I cut it in half to get a more reasonable estimation. The best I ever got on the EXR was a loop from Ouray, down BleackBear to Telluride, back up Imogene, And back to Ouray. I helped that the last 11mi were down hill otherwise I would not have made the 40mi loop.

My dreams of owning an EXE880 are gone I bought a WR250R electric conversion bike =P

Oh yeah ECR did a fullsize e-dirtbike shootout video and the EXE880 was in it check it out. Also I was talking to Nate from Charge Cycle Works and he is saying they've had the bike for a while and it seems be holding up well.

That may be, but keep in mind that Charged sells Arctic Leopards, so his take is a little biased. Your money with probably better spent on your conversion.

I have heard a lot of stuff about Arctic Leopard quality and not good stuff to be honest. I would still love to take one for a ride. I think as a trail bike it's still the best.

Rode the thing last week and hve to say i'm impressed.
It's less premium built than a Stark, but does however have some features that make it more usable than the Varg EX.
Huge storage capacity, where you can take the 1.8kW charger with you, have your tools with you and a solid lunch, being one of the features the Stark EX lacks badly.

Spoiler alert, in case you didn't want to watch the 25-minute video: The Arctic Leopard came in 4th out of 4 bikes.
Just watched
1 is significantly more expensive. 1 hasn't been for sale for 7 years. And the last one is a project bike with 2/3rd sized battery. Basicly you're buying a second hand bike and a new engine, wich explains the somewhat lower price. Go brand new (like the Stark is) and the YZ is by far the most expensive.

For real world trail riding and exploring the outcome might differ quite a bit.
The bigger battery's on the Stark and EXE880 will prove more usefull, and the luggage capacity will allow to bring a charger with the EXE880 so you can charge at any restaurant/chargepoints/friends-houses etc etc so you can extend the ride by quite a bit.
The suspension is not as premium, but it is kinda plush and does very well at relaxed trail riding. Something the Stark and YZ struggle with stock being to stiff.

Yeah, I saw that storage compartment on the Leopard. it's at the end of your video.

The Alta has a huge empty space around the rear shock. But you'd need to design a special bag to fit there to use that space.

The Stark has almost no empty space! Maybe someone could fit a cupholder somewhere behind the shrouds.

I think the Stark EX would benefit greatly from a charger that could be mounted on top of the battery, under the seat. It would't need to be huge, just something like the 1.8kW from the EXE880. That would get you to so many more places and would make it a commuter option for me (I live 2/3rd of a Stark battery away from work). That would make it much easy'er for me to sell my Stark MX and get an EX.

If that was cleverly designed one could choose to mount it there when a bit of weight doesn't matter and remove it when not needed for area's where weight does matter.

For simply that reason the EXE880 actually is the better trail/explorer bike for now. Performance matters little when you don't get there where it is needed. You will need a charger, you need your tools, you need some drinks/food.

Does the Arctic Leopard feels much lighter than the Varg? That would be the main selling point for me.
Yess and no at the same time.

At very slow crawling stuff it feels lighter (and actually is 10kg lighter), also with near tipovers it's far easy'er to push it back up. But when the speeds go up the superior suspension and stiffer frame of the Stark take over where the EXE880 gets luggish and thus feels heavier.
