Help identifying forks

Hey guys, I recently bought some WP forks that were listed as Redshift SM forks.
These forks have the radial caliper mount but what is throwing me off is that they seem to be WP Xplor forks based on the cap as it is identical to the one on my 2018 KTM 350 EXC-F. I haven’t found anything showing that the SM was offered with anything other than the 4cs forks so I’m hoping that maybe you guys know something that I don’t. The numbers listed on the bottom are 4829 and 4818. Are these numbers the same on your SM models?

Thanks in advance!

The SM never shipped with 4CS forks.
Those forks are actually the bees knees. They come from the 450SMR, the supermoto race bike KTM used to sell.
IMO they are the best supermoto forks out of the box.

Thanks for the quick reply. So are mine the same forks as the 450SMR's but with a different cap on them? I wonder if they used different caps on some since most photos I have found of the Redshift SM forks seem to have the 4cs caps on them.
I agree on the TKM SMR forks being awesome! The only thing is I just got a Beringer radial caliper a few weeks ago so I would have to get another caliper to make these work.

It is very possible you found forks with the caps swapped, which in this case I believe to be no issue at all. Just remember you have the other forks inside :D

Interesting.
If that's the case, it is very possible you actually have an "xplor" with radial mount. We were looking at going that route but the numbers did not make sense. We did have a couple of samples though.
Where did you get those forks?

I also think they are Xplor forks since they look identical to the ones on my KTM. I got them from a guy named Adam Birtwistle on eBay. From doing a search it looks like he posted on here as well as aglb1322. Were you part of the Alta team? It seems like you have tons of knowledge about them and their components 🏍

Haha thanks man! That’s pretty awesome. Did you guys do any valving or spring changes to them? Also, any idea of where I can find the axial lug? I’m still looking for a caliper for them as well. It would be cool to have an SM front end and a dirt front end.

Likely so. That said, I have no idea what changes I may have made as everything was documented in a spreadsheet that is now owned by BRP.
That’s cool to know. I’ll just have to compare them with my current setup and see if I notice the difference. I really appreciate all the information and background on these. Now I just have to find a caliper since my Beringer 4 piston is axial mount.
