Newbie need advice on a generator

As far as I'm aware, Stark is using the same exact charger for the Varg. If i find out otherwise, i will certainly let you all know.
If it is the exact same charger, would we be able to use our Alta chargers with the Varg? Is this Elcon charger smart and capable enough to generate a higher ~400VDC charging voltage for the Varg's battery… if the bike asks for it... politely?

The cable from the charger to the bike is not the same as for an Alta. AFAIK, the charger is included with the Varg so why would you want to hook your Alta charger up to it? The charger can deliver up to 440VDC if you ask for it, but we don't go that high.

Yeah, as fsfs said, i believe the charger-to-bike cable is different than our Altas. The charger unit itself can output up to 440VDC 10A if the bike requests it.

If the charger is the same for the Varg and the Alta, and all that I will need is an adapter, I can then think of four reasons why I would want to use the same charger to charge both bikes:

1) When traveling with two bikes, it is easier to haul around 2 bikes and only 1 charger and a small adapter.

2) When parked in the garage, I can keep a dedicated charger there, and keep the other charger in the van, and not have to carry chargers around twice every day.

3) I can install a permanent charger in my motovan and charge all my bikes!

4) Charges go bad, and they can have faults and other issues. Using an Alta charger as a backup is cheaper and quicker than ordering a new charger from Spain.

So the Alta talks to the charger via CAN? 250K rate? Anyone here know the CAN IDs? If I have this info I can tell you if it will work or not.

Is there a way I can buy a fast charger for my Alta? I prefer going slow when possible, but there are some days when I'm really needing to get the battery topped off and the slow charger takes a long time to finish up. I know a lot of that is balancing issues which I'm working on, but once it's all fixed up I would like to have the flexibility of both chargers.

If you cant find one, you could just run the standard charger on 220v with an adapter and it'll charge almost twice as fast. Not quite rapid charger speed, but noticeably faster. The info needed to make an adapter is somewhere on this forum.

Didn't know that was a possibility. Twice as fast would be great. I don't mind waiting for batteries, but 3+ hours is a bit of a problem. Especially in winter when I don't want to leave it fully charged overnight and it's too cold to charge in the morning until after ride time begins (9am).
