Perhaps someone encountered the problem I am dealing with with my EX:
after a charge, the throttle stops working. sometimes it's working intermitently, and now not at all.
re- flashed the bike's firmware couple of times, replaced throttle with a new one, went through the harness' connectors...
We haven't heard much about A packs conversions to R packs.
Based on what Rashid wrote, it is quite an ordeal (only replacing the harness is a pain, not to mention the rest).
I am also curious as to what exactly was done to this bike...
That's interesting. So, it's a 5-7 amp draw system. More than I thought.
It means carrying one hell of an external pack. And Rashid's warning about frying the ACM, pretty much sums it up.
Rashid, these DC to DC BCU failures are more common in the R or A packs? Why do they fail so often?
This is exactly the process I went in my mind when I had the same issue 😃
Ended up replacing the BCU (thanks Rashid).
I thought about using a 3s lipo pack to turn on the bike, and bypass the DC to DC which is the main failing component from what I gather.
When you powered the bike through the...
Had the same thing not long ago with my 2018 EX.
Left the bike for few days with the charger still attached. I did turn the key off when the charge process started (I always do that).
Long story short, replaced the BCU top cover, and bike is back to normal.
Rashid was extremely helpful as always!
I am also surprised that I don't own one :)
They are not being sold in Israel yet. However, I see a EM Escape in my future ( and also in yours, Philip).
I would try Rashid's suggestion regarding the SM maps.
These maps have very mallow regeneration in maps 1 and 2, so you don't have to feed power the entire time, the bike cruise / flows much better.
It is also better for single tracks btw.
The bright side is that this kind of terrain & riding is very conservative on the battery.
Slow technical trails, even with many climbs, does not stress the battery.
Speed is the main battery range enemy.
Sounds like you're ready.
Perhaps soften the suspension. I have the EX's 4cs which is great for Enduro.
I think the MXR's suspension is stiffer and tuned for motocross.
