When you run the battery completely dead, you can still about 1/4 mile at about 2-3 mph. Eventually, the bike will refuse to move. You can still charge it up after that; as mentioned before, the pack protects itself from over/under charging.

The R pack is a must in my opinion, at least for the faster tracks in NorCal. Other than that, it is a hoot and a half. Make sure you bring in a big a generator if you use warmers (so you can also charge)

I do trail riding mostly (slower, rocky stuff and more flowy as well): I love not having to move my foot around to brake and I can just have my feet planted on the pegs.
