    BAD NEWS

I have not been watching this thread for a while, but catching up this morning. My crash involved looping the bike, with the full weight of the crash landing on the display. It was completely f*d. Those that just managed to lose their lcd are lucky. If the unit is totally smashed, the bike...

    BAD NEWS

Did anybody on the forum shell out the 2 grand for a service laptop? Last time I inquired that was the only OEM option available for interfacing with the bike.

POLL - Have you had problems that required support from Alta Motors?

I had one crash related issue that required a new dash from Alta. Smashing the dash disables the bike entirely. I am going to be a lot more careful in the future!

    BAD NEWS

how much $$$ are you looking to get for it? I haven't decided what my price point is for getting a second one since I don't really *need* one, but if any on the market go on 'fire sale', I will likely snag an extra. Perhaps we should start a thread for folks looking to ditch their bike(s)...

    BAD NEWS

Personally, I am glad I was able to get one when I could. I definitely would prefer them to succeed and keep the supply chain live, but I got the bike I wanted and it has been glorious for the last 18 months or so. I will definitely be on the prowl for consumables that will be rare in the...

Charger issue, 2017 Alta Redshit MX - help!

FYI the '17 charger is an Elcon PFC 2500. You might also be able to talk to them.

    BAD NEWS

pretty sure redshift is a physics nerd joke. As in, moving so fast away from you its light wavelength is shifted towards red. Aka Redshift

    How dirty can you be?

I considered an inverter generator with a step up transformer so I could charge at 240. The problem I found was that the inverter generators are generous with their rating. That said though, a 4k inverter and step up xformer would probably be able to supply 240 at a reasonable volume (db) In...

    Crash Damage

I had a bad drop on a switchback which smashed my lhrb brake line and dented the battery case. Other than losing the rear brake, the bike rode fine (and still does, even with a poke/dent in the battery case) Coworker last weekend crashed it repeatedly while learning to ride with just damage to...

Alta Range: MX > EX > EXR

Data point - that is a :D2017mx vs 2018ex. P0wn is probably right about battery chemistry difference, plus I see some weird firmware behavior regarding battery level reported while charging. Bigger factor is that he is slow tho 😂

    Alta's LHRB w/ foot brake

Well, I thought I managed to find one of these brake lines on ebay, but they cancelled and refunded me. What are the deets on the custom hose? How are you planning to route it? as far as epic ride is concerned, my buddy pointed out that I could just revert back to foot brake only while I wait...

    Alta's LHRB w/ foot brake

Grazie. I found one on ebay for a reasonable price that is worth trying to bend up. Now if clake can ship in time... Do you have pics of your hose routing? I am hoping that the DIY setup is going to leave less of the hose exposed to future smashings.

    Alta's LHRB w/ foot brake

Hey all, Sorry if this is answered buried in here somewhere but I am a bit pressed for time since I need to have the bike back together by next weekend for the epic summer weekend ride at Gifford Pinchot. TL/DR: I am looking for a source for a suitable brake line that will work with the Alta...

    DC charging spec

I was wanting to be able to charge the bike with lower power sources, and make a more portable charger I could throw in the backpack. Top up at work, pull juice from DC in a pinch, etc. I opened up my charger to hook up a logic analyzer. I found Elcon controller guts, and Alta confirmed that...
