Hill Hold -- Stark, please make it Optional

I like the Crawl mode. I like the Reverse mode. The Crawl mode is better than other modes for bike loading and especially bike washing since it stays on and does not disengage itself after just ~30 seconds. I want to use the Crawl and Reverse modes more often, but both of these modes come with...

Poll: Are you using the original Stark Varg Stand/Charger as intended?

In other words, you would like two chargers: 1) a stationary charger to keep at home near or under your favorite bike stand, and 2) a light and compact charger to travel with. I wish my Alta chargers had worked with the Stark. Then I would have had just that! Looks like there might be a...

I will apply aluminum duct tape over it FTW!

    Roll your handlebars forward!

If you think the stock Stark handlebars have a weird bend, or should be moved forward, then try rolling them forward. I parked my Altas next to the Stark, and it struck me that the stock Stark handlebar ends were pointing down and were swept too far back. But this weird bend becomes normal if...

Poll: Are you using the original Stark Varg Stand/Charger as intended?

Ta-da! The new total weight is 19.6 lbs. Cost on sale $27.99 (normally $39.99).

Owner's Review Stark Varg - First Customer Review!

I miss the throttle control, the low-speed traction control, and the stand-up ergonomics of the Alta. I may be slower on the Alta but I am definitely more comfortable on it. The Stark crawl mode is okay, but I didn't need it on the Alta. Hill climbing was easier on the Alta, more traction. The...

Awesome! I am going to do the same! Harbor Freight Apache 3800 Pelican case, I am coming to get you!

Aren't they glad they upgraded the wheelie bar, haha! Mamma mia!!!

Poll: Are you using the original Stark Varg Stand/Charger as intended?

The Alta Rapid charger in a Pelican case weighs 27 lbs. The plastic case is 6 lbs and the charger internals and the long cables are 21 lbs. All the cables are neatly tucked inside when the charger is not in use. I could repurpose one of my Alta Rapid chargers to hold the Stark charger internals...

Poll: Are you using the original Stark Varg Stand/Charger as intended?

Wow, these poll results are embarrassing for whoever at Stark Future approved the design decision to combine the charger with the bike stand — less than 15% of owners like it. It is time to offer an alternative charger box that does not require us to lug around an extra 20 lbs of aluminum.

    Can-Am Electric Motorcycles

Yeah. Electric adventure motorcycles should have a hybrid powertrain with a small battery and a small on-board gas generator. I wonder who is going to attempt this first.

    OX-Hydra brake LHRB

Ouch! I remember the first time I took a stock MX to a motocross track it bottomed such that the frame hit the hard dirt and the heels of my feet on the footpegs hit the ground. I was afraid to jump after that and started doing the boner air thing not to flat land again. Then I emailed Alta and...

do you store the bike in standby mode or completely off?

My bike sat fully shut down for about 40 days and lost just 1%. So you should be okay.

Poll: Are you using the original Stark Varg Stand/Charger as intended?

I see you do not like lifting your 7000 W generator either, probably running it right out of the back of your van, LOL! (y)

    Charging with Active Cooling System

Yes, it was this guy. He and Stark concluded it was the battery overheating, not the cool-able powertrain parts (the motor or the inverter). I suppose, pre-cooling the powertrain while you have the charger hooked up will save you some battery juice later in the day when you would otherwise have...

    Charging with Active Cooling System

Turns out it is possible to turn the active cooling system on while charging your Stark Varg. It would be cooling the motor and the inverter but not the battery. Why would anyone want to turn the cooling system on? What are the pros and cons? See at the 0:37 minute mark.

Poll: Are you using the original Stark Varg Stand/Charger as intended?

The design decision to combine the bike stand with the battery charger has received mixed reviews. Some thought it was cool, whereas others outright refused to lug around the clunky contraption that weighs 41 lbs (19 kg) and came up with various alternative solutions that separated the charger...

    stark varg leg grips

I only do MX, and I do not like narrow bikes. When Tomac switched to Yamaha, he said he wanted a wider bike that was easier to grip. I feel too loose on the Stark. My Alta is about the same width, but it widens to the front and to the back, and I feel very secure on it. But I need to add some...
