240v female to 110v male adapter

I spent most of the day today researching various RV power outlets, NEMA connectors, and extension cords. Despite having an engineering degree, I was still pretty clueless about electricity. I am learning. And now I know just enough to be dangerous! Today I finally understood what a "bridged...

It has been said and confirmed before. DO NOT BUY such adapters. They are not wired correctly. You will blow up something.

    Reusing used Tesla batteries

Tesla's used 5.3kWh 24V batteries sell for ~$1,400 on eBay. They are pretty small, weigh only 55 lbs, and are almost enough to fully charge the Redshift from empty. Just add a BMS, a charge controller, a 24V inverter/charger, and perhaps a few fail-safe systems. This video also shows some...

Riding a 30 mile poker run tomorrow on my EXR

Is it a non-competitive ride? You should be able to do 30 miles in Map 2, but yeah, I would be safe and start in Map 1 in case the ride gets difficult or you get lost in the woods, LOL. Good luck to you!

    Inverter Throttle Fault

No, not yet. But this is the time of the year when motorcycle manufacturers are already selling '19 models. The EXR is sold as a '19 model already. We should see the '19 MXR and '19 SMR pretty soon!

DIY LHRB that retains the foot brake

I think I should re-post the DIY LHRB recipe, which is buried on Page 6 of The Alta Factory LHRB thread. Here is the recipe: 1) Brembo clutch 9mm master cylinder KTM P/N 79202030044 from the 2017 KTM SX-F 250/350 2) Clutch hose KTM P/N 60032063100 from the 2014+ KTM Adventure (must straighten...

    Did some forum housekeeping today

I did some forum housekeeping today: Created a new Technical --> Firmware sub-forum and moved some firmware-related threads there. Most of them were buried in General Discussion before. I am expecting this sub-forum to grow as we are learning more about firmware and how it controls the...

Alta SM and Supermoto Track Day Questions

More acronyms and nomenclature. SAE J1772 (IEC Type 1), also known as a "J plug", is a North American standard for electrical connectors for electric vehicles maintained by the SAE.

    Interesting home made “powerwall” video

How would you sort out the bad batteries, especially after they are soldered together? Also, how to charge and discharge them safely? Are these pretty safe if you do not put high currents into or out of them?

How many want to keep the foot brake?

I have another idea. How about designing a protective cover or bracket for the rear brake cylinder? If done right, it would prevent that failure from happening on other bikes, or hold the cylinder in place if this failure has already occurred. Design it in CAD, CNC machine a few pieces, and...

How many want to keep the foot brake?

It's $100 for the long LHRB line, or $300 if Alta won't sell it separately, plus dealing with not having the foot brake. Or $658 plus the installation labor. Or welding, machining, plus the installation labor. Or making some bracket contraption to keep the bottom on the cylinder in place.
