Sadly the little birdie was way wrong... No KTM chain sliders will fit the Alta. So we need to either reinforce the stock sliders or wait for the aftermarket to come up with something. @MotoMinded

Yeah. The only time I find those shrouds marginally acceptable is when I am wearing knee braces. Even then, their ( ) bubble shape does not flow with how the knees move. These ribs are for styling only. I wonder if they are just cut out, would this be better?

Perhaps 42 ft-lbs of torque did not sound very impressive when the bike has only 1 gear? This is probably why someone decided to multiply it by 3.5. But even with the 34 ft-lbs of crank torque my MX, which is also geared up 12/45, was still called a "Torque Monster" today by a B-level rider. He...

All other manufacturers report the torque at the motor. The max RPM is about 14K, just like on the 4-stroke 250. Why they initially decided to report the torque anywhere else is unclear.

I might have found an off-the-shelf hose, but I am waiting for a new 9mm master cylinder to arrive first to tell for sure.

I think I know why. The front sprocket is 1 tooth smaller, so with the same 116-link chain the wheelbase would grow by 1/4 of the chain's pitch -- 5/32" or about 4mm. Install the old 13-tooth front sprocket and the wheelbase will be back to where it was.

How much longer?

The bike appears to be similar to the MXR, except for the new Xplor 48 fork, the EX 18" rear wheel, and the EX Metzeler tires. Can anyone see anything else that is new?

In my small hill climbing experience, lugging the Alta up a hill is where it has a huge advantage over the gas bikes. But once you start roosting, which I suppose is advantageous in certain terrains, it does not matter as much what kind of powertrain you have.

This has been done before, you will need new triple clamps because the Cone Valve forks are larger in diameter. @Mark911 knows all about it. You might have to keep a slightly stiffer (stock??) rear spring for the MXR and a softer one for the KTM. Clicking some clickers might be enough...
