New owner - scary question.. (Code 36)

Hello Ed, I know the name, our paths may have crossed at some point - didn't you used to road race? Worked for Honda?Anyway, your issue is very likely a wire bond issue in one of the modules, which unfortunately rather prevalent on a certain VIN range. At full charge , there is not enough of a...

    Code 35

Module imbalance is likely, wire bond fault. If you updated the firmware, that hidden Code 35 would very possibly turn into a Code 36 that would persist on the display. As long as it runs fine, I would leave it alone.

Can you adjust the steering head angle and offset

Interchangeable steering offsets are commonly used on road racing bikes, it's not complicated machining. The metrology department at Alta was top notch.

Someone in Europe, who has a ALTA SM? Chargingissue!

Correct. If it is not the latest firmware, you will need to set up a PC to upload it. Changing the bike to off board charging is probably not possible as it would require a wiring harness, DCCP, charge port, and other parts. These are possibly available, I'm not sure. It would also require that...

New Alta "Phoenix Edition" -- Canceled.

If you're having trouble raising the $5MM to rescue the company, how are you going to raise the $50MM+ it will take to resuscitate it? I am doubtful.

    Alta Motors v2.0 restart attempt

Very good. As I have experience with the product, I would hope that we could work together to smooth the transition.

    Alta Motors v2.0 restart attempt

You need to unveil yourself. Those of us who formerly worked there are tired of getting screwed by blind investors. I know who you are. The rest need to know.

    Service 9 volt starter battery?

As I said earlier, you can actually access the 9v without doing all of that.

    Service 9 volt starter battery?

The message may be a false flag in some cases. If the voltage drops below a preset level, the warning appears. If the battery was 0v, replacing it should restore function.

ALTAnalyser - tool to display bike data - interessted?

I am assuming Rakesh sent you a PM answering your questions. The data on the Alta is logged whenever the key is on or charger connected and can be viewed graphically like any typical logger, or monitored in real time. Most, if not all sensor values are logged and can be interpreted.

ALTAnalyser - tool to display bike data - interessted?

It's good to hear that progress is being made in this department. If any owners need to look at detailed data at any point, I am in Atlanta and have the ability to do that directly from the bike, along with normal dealer diagnostics. I'd be happy to assist. I'm not sure if the server is still...

    Service 9 volt starter battery?

There is a parasitic drain somewhere. This will likely happen repeatedly. The battery is designed to last for ten years in normal use. Unfortunately, with no parts right now, it will be difficult to solve. For a little bit of help, you can actually maneuver the ACM and get the cover off without...

Local dealer says they’re still a service center

Most support/diagnosis, warranty or not, involves uploading data to a server and having engineering review it. I don't know that the server is available anymore, and there are no engineers to review it.

    Year differences

Changes were made at an incredible pace, remember 17 was only the first year. Dealer laptops will not be able to see data such as motor temps. They can output that info, but they cannot view it.

Judaslefourbe knows way more about it than me.

Someone here, who got the ALTA EX or SM already streetlegal for Europe?

If I recall correctly, all street legal vehicles in Europe need to have ABS. That was one of the hurdles Alta faced as it prepared to setup a dealer network there, along with RF emissions from the ACM.

Charging the SM with the stand alone charger?

You would need to change the entire wire harness and the DCCP, plus update firmware. That's probably not possible, because those parts can't be purchased from Alta anymore. Only solution I can think of is to put SM suspension and wheels on an EX as described above.
