When driving up 550 through Silverton go through town and up to Animas Forks ghost town. The Durango/Silverton Railway train will hopefully be there when you are as it ends just off main street. There are many hot spring areas like Pagosa Springs and Ouray you might find relaxing.

Many AOF members have multiple Altas. I bought one before they went out of business and two afterwards. I do not regret it.

You just had to post these didn't you? I just bought the blue set as a backup to the EXR I bought from Rix. I do want to keep these bikes going as long as possible.

The next problem, if you go lower, will be that the pedal will hit the peg mount when fully depressed. There is enough stock to mill or grind your clearance but you will have to re-powder coat the mount so it doesn't rust ( it is the Alta steel piece).

Yes that is what I did. Simple to turn on a lathe. In some cases I had to go so far that there was no travel left on the master cylinder plunger. To compensate, I shortened the overall length of the plunger by trimming it.

They were an aluminum pair from eBay (I believe from a Yamaha). I cut them apart and TIGed them with a lowering plate which I cut and fit. I guess they are custom, but I do it for all my bikes.

A piece of coated stainless wire is connected from the tip to the frame with enough slack for full pedal activation.

These two images show a close up of the tip. The original was milled off at the angle determined by where I wanted the pedal due to the lowered pegs. I drilled and tapped two holes for installation of the tip onto the stub end.

I forgot to add; Temp was 11* when I loaded up from a warm shop. By the time we started the ride approximately one hour later it was 19*. It went up to about 23* by the end of the ride. I was in map one and ended with 55% charge from a full start. I didn't think the temp caused much issue...
