    2019 / 2020 wish list

I agree that a bigger battery is the best answer. Most of my dirt rides are in the 40-60 mile range making the current Alta battery, barely acceptable to not even close. If I could have a 8.7Kw pack (50% bigger) the Alta would cover 95% of my rides. At Erzeberg, Alta didn't need much more...

    2019 / 2020 wish list

I was thinking a small (0.5kw), snap in pack, that you could swap in seconds would be awesome. Place it in parallel with the main pack and in a ride like Ezberg you could just snap new pack in at every check point. Couple of seconds and you are on your way with an extra KW.

    Adding a 12V socket, Off-road navigation apps

I was told by Alta that the 12 V system on an EX didn't have the power to run a cell phone charger or a GPS so my plan was to get an LED head light and then use the extra power to run a dedicated cell phone GPS. Hasn't really been a priority for me with the limited range I am rarely in a...

    DC charging spec

I received a response back from Elcon. They do provide the chargers for Alta. With a CAN controlled charger the vehicle tells the charger what to do. This is normally a voltage and current request so the BMS on the bike is communicating with the charger to tell it what it wants and the...

    2019 / 2020 wish list

I guess the beauty of the electric/software based platform, is that it doesn't have to be an either or proposition. With a little extra code and use of switches that are already there, and presumably wired, Alta can give us all what we want. @Philip can have his rolling throttle, I can have...

    2019 / 2020 wish list

Worth a try, but not sure how well it would work in rough terrain. I shift down to map 1 (awesome that we can do that) when it is rough and slick to minimize will spin due to minor movements of the throttle. I normally ride in map 3 because I like the increased regen, but last weekend when...

    DC charging spec

The picture is of the CAN controller/adapter for the FPC charger. I have an account with Elcon, I will write them and ask if they know how it is programmed and if we could use one of their 5KW chargers. That would give one hour charging, providing the bike wiring and systems can support it...

    2019 / 2020 wish list

For reverse you should have a switch to select it, but we have an unused button on the map selector so that is easy or they could use one of the unused buttons on the display. Probably also need a switch for hill hold, but you may be able to program it so that it is always live and doesn't...

    Alta supplied tools?

My second key was in the box of tools.

    DC charging spec

I am not aware of any DC charging for the Alta. Could probably be done. The current charger's output is DC so no reason you couldn't duplicate that with a different system. You would need to work on figuring out the Alta/charger communication so you could duplicate that. For DC fast charging...

    New Seat

Just went to the Seat Concept web site and it looks like they have a variety of seats available for the Alta. Going to have to check them out because my back side could use some more comfort. :ricky:

    New Battery Tech

I know Tesla uses wire that is also the fuse for each cell in their battery packs. The wire is the fuse, so if an over current situation occurs, the wire will break to isolate the problem and prevent a chain reaction failure in the pack. No idea if Alta uses a similar structure, but I would...

Alta SM and Supermoto Track Day Questions

Partially correct. You are correct that the Alta's will not interface to provide signals required to turn J1772 EVSE on, but aJ1772 adapter box will. If you have a J1772 adapter to turn the EVSE on, then it is just like plugging into any other wall outlet. If it is a level 1 EVSE then it will...

Alta SM and Supermoto Track Day Questions

With a firmware upgrade I believe the SM charger will take 240Vac so all you would need is an J1772 adapter and you could charge from the J1772 in the garage.

    How Far Have You Gone?

Send them an email. When I emailed them they said they were going to work on a seat for the Alta, but if more people email them it might move it up the priority list.

    How Far Have You Gone?

With the seat on my EX you definitely need an "Iron Butt" if you are going to spend much time in it. The guys at Seat Concepts have an MXR so just waiting for them to come out with a comfort seat for it. :ricky:

Ty Tremaine and Lyndon Poskitt to race in the Erzberg Rodeo

You are probably right. Hub motor in the front and with the right software you may be able to eliminate the front brake with role on, role off, throttle. AWD would probably be another distinct advantage in the rock piles they had to go through and the hills they had to climb. :) Another key...

Updated the firmware on my EX today

It is too bad, that to get a key feature, you have to lose a feature. Hopefully Alta will someday (soon) allow us to adjust parameters like speed settings, acceleration and regen. They are all electronic settings and are pretty standard, user adjustable settings, in EVs. I just keep thinking...

    Longer mirror brackets

I have the same issue on my EX. I have asked @MotoMinded to look into DoubleTake Adventure mirrors. I have them on my DRZ and i really like them.

Updated the firmware on my EX today

Thanks, but no thanks. I want the stronger regen. Been riding mainly in map 3 because of the stronger regen and I don`t want to lose that. I will keep the programming I have until I have to take it to the dealer to fix a problem, hopefully never. :) Now if I could have SM programming in my EX...
