Performance difference from MX to EX?

Both have the same torque number at the countershaft. Difference is in gearing.

    Sand?!

The Extreme range all suck in sand since the're not made for it. They deform way too much to be usefull in sand. In sand you need quite stiff knobbies since the ground has to deform, not the tyre (other way around than rocks). Actually the Mitas C02 Stoneking sucks in the real gnarly rocks but...

The big Stark MX vs EX fitment topic

That's exactly what i don't want with this topic. Any idiot can compare part numbers (except my local Beta dealer, but that's another topic). But what i hope to achieve is to build a database on what does and doesn't fit where the part numbers don't match up.

The big Stark MX vs EX fitment topic

I couldn't really find a topic that bundles the knowledge of what parts are interchangeable and could be considerd upgrades. I opened one some time ago about plastic fitment. But a more overall topic might be nice...

    KTM wheel fitment

Spacers slide in perfectly. Wheel perfect in center but the disc is 2mm too far out. This is the same with the 260mm OEM rotor, 260 KTM rotor and 320mm KTM rotor. Other spacers move the issue. I have other spacers that slide the rotor to perfect center in the caliper, but wheel is then 2mm out...

RE: Stark - My conversation with Mike Burkeen, AMA Deputy Director of Racing

Main reason is way higher compression and thus louder bangs per ignition.

Varg EX has different sound to Varg MX. EX howls more and is significantly louder

Checked it. 14-48 the MX later got. So an even bigger gap.

Varg EX has different sound to Varg MX. EX howls more and is significantly louder

Yeah i believe the MX is 14-50. That would make an 11% gap in speed per rpm.

RE: Stark - My conversation with Mike Burkeen, AMA Deputy Director of Racing

I have to agree a little bit on the noise though. While training with slow riders (i'm slow, but even i pass people) you have to be really carefull because they don't notice you comming up. I have that less on my 2 stroke. The 4 strokes really don't hear you although the guys riding enduro bikes...

Stark Varg MX vs EX fitment plastic

I'm not sure what you mean? You would want the red part in my picture right? So the topside? That is different between both because the MX is missing 2 points where the rear EX fender (the black thing that i added) bolts on to. I know that it fits and works how i put it, but if you add the...

Varg EX has different sound to Varg MX. EX howls more and is significantly louder

Didn't the EX come with very short gearing? I believe i heard as low as 12-50 stock although that might be off. That would add significant RPM's and thus sound. I do hate they take speed from the motor itself. Changing the gearing or wheels would greatly affect ground speed. If only they put an...

RE: Stark - My conversation with Mike Burkeen, AMA Deputy Director of Racing

I have a Stark and a 300 2 stroke Enduro. When i ride that there is not a single 450 MX rider that can hear me comming up. I have an easier time to hear a Stark comming up on my 300 than i do hearing a 2 stroke comming up when i ride a 4 stroke. To make the kind of noise to overcome a 450 you...

Owner's Review Varg EX suspension. Did you go Hard or Mid?

The KYB's sure are "the shit" and can do anything when setup well. However you can't please rider who like stiff and jumping tabletops and riders who like plush and do rock crawling at the same time. I have them in the Stark and on my Beta RR 300 Racing. The Stark is setup for MX and the Beta...

Stark's/ Adult electric bikes banned from UK enduro events

All licence holders (all riders) got an email stating this. The explanation was that those KTM bikes were empirically proven save over the past few years... This didn't hold for long since quite the outcry started and even local governments got involved because they have great interest in...

Stark's/ Adult electric bikes banned from UK enduro events

Here clubs needs basic training for at least 1 official who is there, 1000V rubber gloves AND 1 F500 fire extinguisher. Total cost about 250 euro, so not that big of a deal.

Stark's/ Adult electric bikes banned from UK enduro events

In the early Stark days in the Netherlands all electric MX bikes except KTM's were banned from training on MX tracks under the KNMV (biggest of the 2 relugators). How obvious do you want it to be...

Crashed bike and need help getting it out

The Stark MX weighs 118kg to the bloody dot when new. That you swapped out tubes and probably tires is not Stark lying about the weight. Very true, the 1st gen powertubes were a joke. But they have updated them. They all started leaking at the rimlock. Now the tubes are a tad thicker and have...

    KTM wheel fitment

@FYR for what year EXC are your wheels? I will contact them monday. The KTM front discs are the same size and are interchangeble with Beta and Stark (on both i have used KTM discs in the past). When i offset the wheel 2mm they slide perfect in the brake caliper. Anyhow the thickness is the same...

    KTM wheel fitment

Yeah this is why i'm so surprised. I know KTM used different axle thickness and spacers, but with the proper spacers all wheels fitted al bikes. That this has a different offset for the brake disc is puzzling. Maybe a mistake at the aftermarket supplier...

Crashed bike and need help getting it out

We get it you hate the damn thing. Do you need my adres to drop the thing off? So far i had 1 faillure in over 1,5 years. Not too bad for any dirtbike, let alone a gen1 from a startup.
