Fortunately I'm paranoid! I mean, seriously paranoid and usually I have a whole collection of spare parts before even having the bike in my possession. Now on the Varg one of my biggest concerns was always the control switch, because if that stops working for what reason ever you are left stranded even with an otherwise perfectly fine bike. In case of my EX I wanted the sleeker, easier to pack MX unit as the extra buttons on the EX are not necessary to just run it. Nevertheless the switch from the MX 1.0 will not fit due to the different connector so you have to use the MX 1.2 one. Now today when doing some maintenance after a ride on the weekend I noticed that the LED on the control switch had stopped blinking red. Turned on the bike with the on/off switch and found all the other buttons and the LED to be dead

So basically the bike would turn on (phone comes to life, relay clicking) but I could not switch it in gear and thus would have been stranded if on a ride! Looks like the control switch consists of two separate circuits, which makes sense, and while the on/off side is fine the control side and LED is dead! Grabbed the MX 1.2 unit out off my emergency pack and yo and behold the bike works just fine
So guys, get an spare control switch and always have it with you when riding the bike!
I've contacted Stark about it and we will see. Coincidentally I also noticed that my tail light is broken, only flickering sometimes and being dark most of the time - looks like some water intrusion. I don't think there is a connection, but who knows; the whole thing is pretty weird.
